The Toucans are a 4-piece group playing all-acoustic instruments!
(lead pan, double seconds, tenor basses, and a small drum kit)
The Toucans were introduced to Steel Drums in the early 1980's while in school in the Seattle area. After playing together through college, the Toucans commissioned their own drums and began to perform professionally in the Puget Sound region.
Since 1988, the Toucans have been delighting audiences of all ages with their lively and upbeat renditions of Caribbean classics and popular favorites!
The Steel Drum is a melodically tuned instrument which can be played softly or energetically in a variety of different styles. It was invented on the Caribbean island of Trinidad in the late 1930's (see About Pan), and has since spread all over the world.
The Toucans play calypso, reggae, swing, popular songs and standards, even Beatles songs and some kids favorites for good measure! Their easy-going and approachable attitudes make the Toucans perfect for almost any event! (See About the Music)
